Marvel to a super Marriage

In this weeks “Astonishing X-Men #50” Northstar takes center stage and prepares to go from one of the first openly gay superheros is comics to the first married gay hero at Marvel. Northstar has had a confusing history. He stared is “Alfa Flight,” for marvel in the 80’s and 90’s but his star fell not long after he came out as being a gay man. At the time his coming out was a development, but since then has been ignored, he was at one point declared a fairy. The character has become a start for Marvel and they will see how it goes. Dean says “I think the character is pretty neat.”

Cruise Lines at it again

An 18-year-old Panamanian fisherman who survived 28 days adrift at sea is suing Princess Cruise Lines, arguing that one of its Cruise ship should have stopped and saved him.A lawsuit filed in Florida last week says the behavior of officers or crew members of the Star Princess was "outrageous and, under the circumstances, so beyond all bounds of decency as to be regarded as shocking, atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community."Three passengers who were bird watching on the ship alerted a crew member when they spotted Adrian Vasquez and his companions were signaling for help from their fishing boat, the suit says.Even though crew members "had clear knowledge that people were stranded in an open boat hundreds of miles from shore in the Pacific Ocean and desperately calling for their help," the suit says, "they consciously ignored the emergency situation and did not deviate from their cruise."The fishing boat, Fifty Cents, had been adrift for 15 days when it crossed paths with the Star Princess on March 10, according to the lawsuit. They said t the time the ship passed all three fishermen aboard were alive. Do you think this was a wrongful doing of the ship’s captain.

Crazy Death........

Local kid died today in a car crash in Gills Rock. The kid (Austin K) was taking his monthly trip to Washington Island when he drove off the ferry boat while it was underway. Investigators are still searching for clues why he would do something so crazy. They found the car at the bottom of lake Michigan but Austin was nowhere to be found. Some people say they saw a scuba diver come up from the surface behind the ferry dragging a tarp towards shore. Who it was and where they went no one knows.

Too Far?

This is  a video that has gone viral on the web with over 980,000 hits on YouTube: A 3-year-old in a wheelchair, patted down by the TSA. It happened in 2010, but his dad  who is the Chicago radio personality Matt Dubiel and he posted it over the weekend after looking through old family videos. He tells Soledad his son had a broken leg and could barely stand. And though the TSA agent was cautious with the child, he says his son was still scared by the experience. The TSA has since changed the way it screens passengers under 12 years of age. Do you think this is a little too much?

Overreaction?

An eighth grader was suspended from his school for 55 days because he played a prank on one of his classmates. The class had just got done with a lecture about marijuana when the kid brought a bag of oregano and posed it as marijuana. The schools policy states that a student can get a 10 day suspension for "possessing illegal or counterfeit drugs and "misuse of chemical/material that causes or is claimed to cause a mind altering effect."A longer suspension can be imposed if officials determine a student's conduct "demonstrates a willful violation" of school policies. The mother states that it was a joke and the school needs to lighten up on the kids penalty. The incident happened February 1st and the school gave him a 10 day suspension and once his time was up the school called his family and said he had another 45 day suspension and is due to return March 29th. Do you think the school went too far?

Super Bowl Commercials

For some people the super bowl is as popular as the ads it brings in. Which is why companies were willing to pay a whopping 3.5 million dollars for just 30 seconds of fame. This years commercials were filled with celebrities like Clint Eastwood staring in the crysler commercial and Elton John in the pepsi ad along with the winner of X Factor Melanie Amaro. Companies even went as far as selling sex, like in the Go Daddy commercial where she was seemingly posing nude.

So which is your favorite super bowl 46 commercial?

Cruise Ship Wreckage

On January 13, 2012; just off the coast of Italy a cruise ship named the Costa Concordia hit the rocky coast and started to sink. The passengers said that once the lights went out it created chaos and wide spread panic. The impact created a large hole in the side of the ship letting it take on water and creating it to lean to one side. The life boats were deployed and had people packed full trying to escape. During the havoc there was a total 28 people missing and they have confirmed that 11 of them have died from the wreckage. Italy's Coast Guard has been searching for the missing passengers and crew members in the wreckage. The captain ordered to abandon ship and was later forced back on his cruise liner to coordinate rescue efforts. After all of this the captain is being blamed for commanding the ship off course.
